The BCS
Speaking of the BCS, also known as the worst system ever, let me explain a few things about college football and the bowl championship series. First of all for some reason, even though every other sport has a playoff to determine their champion college football has a computer. They use a computer ranking that combines five computer polls and two human polls to find out who is ranked number one and two. Then the two of them play for the championship. There is also four other BCS bowls that take conference champions and at-large bids and put them together. The Orange Bowl (in Miami) gets the Atlantic Coast Conference champion The Rose Bowl (Los Angeles) gets the pac-10 and the big-10 champions, the fiesta bowl (Arizona) gets the winner of the big-12, and the Sugar bowl (New Orleans) gets the SEC champion. The rest of the teams are picked by the bowl committees. If one of the conference champions is put in the national championship game then the bowl that loses them gets to pick the replacement. The BCS is flawed for many reasons. One of which it often does not leave us with answers of who is really the best team in the nation. For example, this year LSU won the game but many believe USC and Georgia are playing better. A playoff would allow college football fans to see great matchups and leave much less doubt of who is really the best. In conclusion you need to know that the BCS is a flawed system and don't be fooled into thinking the winner of the national championship game is really the best team.
